"What are your favorite things about this time of year?" - Anon
Well, first off, I love the smell in the air. Whether it's the smell of damp autumn leaves in the wind or simply the fresh, crisp bite to the cold air, they are both absolutely wonderful. I'm not a big fan of the cold, but I love the different smells that go along with the seasons. I even change around the potpourri in my home as well as my body wash and shampoo to match the seasons, that's how much I simply enjoy the smells of it! As soon as fall comes about, I break out the pumpkin oil fresheners and the pomegranate body wash. When winter starts to move closer, I break out the Sugar Cookie oil fresheners and warm vanilla body wash.
Also, I think the first snow of the year is the most romantic and the most magickal. There's just something about the first time those puffy dark clouds hang in the air and then suddenly you're cascading in falling white crystals. It really is simply magickal. Even if it doesn't stick to the ground. There is always a quiet sort of calm peace that accompanies snowfall that I've always enjoyed. It seems to hush the world around it and stop the hustle and bustle for a little while. All the worries of the world seem to be muffled in a blanket of white at that point.
The food is also something I enjoy. Everyone baking different types of cookies, ham is almost everywhere you look. The smell of gingerbread. I'm starting to see that I'm a very scent oriented person lol. But the food around this type of year has always been amazing. It's unlike the BBQ picnic food you eat during all the summer food holidays. The food around this type of year is that heavy, filling, stick-to-your-ribs type of good. It's just absolutely wonderful.
