Om Nom Nom

"What are your fave thanksgiving dishes?" - Anon

Well, first off, I can't stand turkey. So usually on my thanksgiving dinners I make Ham. Just something delicious about a nice tender ham marinated with clove and brown sugar and honey. So sweet and tender ^_^. I also must have mashed potatoes and peas. I don't know why, but growing up I couldn't stand eating peas, so my mother showed me to take the ashed potatoes and dip them in the peas and ever since then I've been able to stomach them and actually enjoy eating the like that!

My mother always made a broccoli, cauliflower and cheese casserole for thanksgiving. It was really simply to make too. You just layered crackers, butter, veggies, butter, crackers, butter, veggies, etc. And cheese. Nice gooey chunks of Velveeta. You throw it in the oven and bake it up and it comes out sooooo nice and crispy. It was always one of my favorites. As well as green bean casserole and sweet potato bake. Just something delicious about eating the gooey crispy marshmallows off the top of the sweet potatoes.

And of course, pies. My favorites are pumpkin pie with a cream cheese topping baked on as well as a nice cherry pie and maybe on occasion a slice of apple pie, but as you can tell, my family always had some good food at the table come thanksgiving.
